Target Product Profile

CALL FOR PUBLIC CONSULTATION

Deadline 31 May 2026

What is the WaSPP Target Product Profile?

The Wastewater Surveillance and Pandemic Prevention (WaSPP) consortium has been developing a Target Product Profile (TPP) that outlines the characteristics for WaSPP protocols and software that will need to be achieved for our product to be useful and impactful for public health.

The minimal and optimal requirement for each characteristic is detailed in the TPP.  The minimal requirements detail the “must meet” criteria for wastewater surveillance for pandemic prevention to be feasible. The optimal requirements are the ideal features that provide significant advantages to wastewater surveillance for pandemic prevention (e.g. low-cost, minimal resources required, scalability, better data to inform public health action). â€‹â€‹

How can you contribute to the development of the WaSPP TPP?

We are now seeking public feedback on the draft TPP from researchers, scientists, public health officials, clinicians, members of disease-specific programs, representatives of intended users, implementers, funders, industry and product developers and others involved in pandemic prevention and wastewater surveillance.

We are doing this to develop a well-defined and consensually agreed TPP which can provide a clear roadmap for researchers, developers and stakeholders to create a viable product with high impact.

The draft TPP is available for download as a word document here: Draft TPP WaSPP v0.9
